What Scenarios Are Suitable for Distributed PV?

The applicable scenarios of distributed PV systems can be divided into two categories. First, they can be promoted on all kinds of buildings across the country (such as urban and rural building roofs, high energy-consuming enterprise factories and agricultural greenhouses) and public facilities, forming distributed building PV systems. By selecting backbone-grid coverage areas or load-concentrated areas and making use of local buildings and public facilities, distributed PV power generation systems relieve the electricity shortage of some urban residents and farming and pastoral people, and solve the production electricity needs of high energy-consuming enterprises. Second, they can be promoted in remote farming and pastoral areas, islands and other areas with little or no electricity, forming off-grid distributed PV power generation systems or micro-grids. Due to differences in economic development levels, some people in remote areas of China still have not solved their basic electricity needs. In the past, rural grid projects mostly relied on extending the main grid, small hydropower, small thermal power, etc. Grid extension is extremely difficult and the supply radius is too long, resulting in poor power supply quality. Developing off-grid distributed generation systems can not only solve the basic electricity needs of residents in low-power and no-power areas at the end of the grid, but also make clean and efficient use of local renewable energy, effectively resolving the contradiction between energy and the environment.
